Dynamics in Dimension two

Dear Friends and Colleges

It is a pleasure to announce our meeting which will be held between April 7 – 17 (2009) in Pucón (University of La Frontera, ITUR). This meeting will focus on several aspects of  two dimensional dynamical  systems. The idea is to gather around 30 mathematicians interested in these topics and to create a working atmosphere with plenty of time for informal talks and discussions. The main scheduled activities will be the following two minicourses,

T. Jaeger (College de France): Periodic point free toral homeomorphisms, Circloids and the bounded mean motion preperty.

B. Wiest (Rennes 1): Nielsen-Thurston´s theory and applications.

Tentatively, there will be five  sessions for each mini-course as to cover the topics with relative calm and depth.
If you are interested in participating in this meeting please contact mponcea@mat.puc.cl.

We hope to see you during this meeting

Orderable Groups

In this meeting, we will focus on many aspects concerning Orderable Groups and the relations (among others) with Geometric Group Theory, Low Dimensional Topology, and Dynamics. The idea is to gather around 40 people from different subjects in order to promote discussion and collaboration. There will be three mini-courses, as well as a few (mostly informal) talks.

Local expenses of all the participants will be covered by the organizers.

We hope seeing you at "Cajón del Maipo" !

Dynamical Systems Days

Description

The main goal of this event is to initiate a collaboration of Chilean researchers and post-graduate students with foreign mathematicians, who can propose new directions of research related to Dynamical Systems. The workshop consists of four mini courses and a limited number of talks in order to have plenty of time for informal discussions.

The meeting will be held at Universidad Católica del Norte in Antofagasta, Chile from December 3 to 14, 2007.

We invite everyone to participate. If you are interested in coming please register at the web page:
www.dynamicalsystems.cl/conferences/dynamics007/register
For more information please write an e-mail to anillo@ucn.cl.

Inscription is 40.000 CLP (about 80 USD). It is not obligatory, but we are asking everyone who can to pay it.

We hope to see you soon in Antofagasta.

Ultrametric Dynamical Days

Description. Building a firm bridge between the relatively new theory of non-archimedean dynamics and the well-established area of complex dynamics, is currently a very active area of research. The interactions between these two fields are particularly striking when dealing with the geometry of parameter spaces of rational or polynomial maps. This  meeting is intended to introduce researchers and graduate students to this problematic.

There will be three mini-courses dealing with the necessary basis of moduli spaces, non-archimedean dynamics and compactification problems. We expect to gather a group of 20 to 30 researchers to create a working atmosphere in order to facilitate scientific interactions:  beside the mini-courses, scheduled talks, informal seminars, and problem sessions will be organized.

Registration. In order to give appropriate facilities we ask each participant to register before December 8 at this website.

Financial support. Limited funds are available to cover travel and/or living expenses. To apply for financial support please register before November 9.
