The aim of this meeting is to gather together people from different mathematical communities that have been using similar techniques to deal with problems in different contexts and exploit further use of these methods. In this spirit, besides normal talks, we plan to have open problem sessions as well as four mini-courses of 4 hours each:

El LVII Coloquio de Sistemas Dinámicos  se realizará  entre los días 3 y 5 de Noviembre del presente en las dependencias del Instituto de Matemática de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.

Thermodynamic Formalism and applications is a meeting that will focus on recent developments of this theory.

We expect to gather researchers on the subject to create a working atmosphere and to facilitate scientific interactions.

The program will consist of mini-courses and talks.

It will be held from the 8th of July to the 12th of July 2013, at the Facultad de Matemáticas of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, Chile.

Rafael Labarca obtained his PhD at IMPA, Rio de Janeiro, under the supervision of Jacob Palis, in 1985. He has held positions at IMPA as a research assistant and at Universidad de Santiago de Chile, where he is a full professor. His mathematical work has been devoted mostly to the Bifurcation Theory of  Dynamical Systems. His contributions have been deep and groundbreaking. He is one of the fundamental figures in the development of the Chilean Group of Dynamical Systems. He has organised seminars, conferences, and several international schools in the subject. Rafael Labarca has generously supported young researchers in the field of mathematics. Much of his time and effort has been devoted to develop outreach activities, such as the "Campeonato Escolar de Matemáticas" (CMAT) which is one of his most outstanding creations. Recently, he has developed the Project "Academias de Matemáticas", at public primary schools localised in some of the poorest areas of Santiago. Thereby, in the occasion of his 60th birthday, this Colloquium is devoted to celebrate not only his mathematical work but also his enthusiasm and generosity.

The aim of this conference is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Rodrigo Bamón.

As a tribute to Bamon`s key role in the development of dynamical systems in Chile, the meeting will focus on this general area. We specially welcome works in Rodrigo`s main mathematical interests: Polynomial vector fields, singular cycles, higher dimensional attractors for flows, circle endomorphisms, complex dynamics, applications to partial differential equations and mathematical finance.

We intend to create a good atmosphere for collaboration, mathematical discussions and celebration. In addition to the classical mathematical activities, the location offers the possibilities for native forest trips, volcano climbing, rafting, etc. Indeed, the city of Pucón where the conference will be held is in the mountain region of the south of Chile, and is surrounded by impressive native forests, stunning lakes and majestic volcanos.We also plan to get in contact with Rodrigo`s non-mathematical interests like art-craft and Yoga.
